TEN TALES: THE FIRST TEN BOOKS I'VE READ THIS YEAR

HEY GUYS LOOK AT ME I'M WRITING IN ALL CAPS DO YOU WANNA KNOW WHY WELL.........

I'VE FINALLY COMPLETED THE TENTH BOOK I HAVE READ THIS YEAR!

Now, I know it's nearly April which is the fourth month of the year therefore a third of the way through 2014 and 10 isn't actually a very big number but...... I'm busy, okay?! Turns out it's quite difficult to read as much as you want to when your Year 11 exams are just around the corner :-(

Anyway, below is a list (in order- 1 being hella fantastic and 10 being ehhhhhh) of the first 10 books that I have read in 2014.

TEN

Suite Scarlett by Maureen Johnson
Two Stars **

If you've kept up to date on our recent posts you'll see my review of Johnson's book.

NINE

The Maze Runner by James Dashner
Three Stars ***

Contrary to popular opinion, I personally was not a massive fan of this first book in Dashner's four-part series. Maybe the upcoming film will change my opinion?!?!? I might read the next in the series soon and see if that makes me like it more.

EIGHT

How to Be a Woman by Caitlin Moran
Four Stars ****

Hmmmmm. Not sure what to say on this book. It had it ups and downs, I'd still say it's worth a read.

SEVEN

Rosario + Vampire (Manga), Vol.5 by Akihisa Ikeda
Four Stars ****

As a massive lover of manga, anime, and all things Japanese, I'm a big fan of Ikeda's Manga series 'Rosario + Vampire'. This volume, though not my favourite, still not to fail to capture me in the world of Tsukune Aono.

SIX

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury
Four Stars ****

Though the first half of this classic didn't really interest me hugely, by the second half of it I was simply unable to stop reading and enjoyed it massively!

FIVE

Ketchup Clouds by Annabel Pitcher
Four Stars ****

This book was... interesting, I guess? I read it from start to finish in one night, yet I didn't really feel like it left much of a mark upon completion. I enjoyed it nonetheless.

FOUR and THREE

Rosario + Vampire (Manga), Vol. 4 and 6
Four and a half Stars (both) ****/

Both of these volumes of my favourite manga series interested me greatly, each equally leaving me dying to read the next instalment!

TWO

The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald
FIVE STARS *****

I have a sliiiight confession... this year wasn't the first time I've read Gatsby. For a long time now it has had a special place in my heart, however this year's reading of it was the first time I've completed it in no more than a day. Absolutely love this classic!

ONE!!!!!

Nineteen Eighty-Four by George Orwell
FIVE STARS *****

The first Orwell I read before 1984 was Animal Farm, which I read in school a couple of years ago and to be honest, can't really remember much of it. So this wonderful novel felt like my first entry into the wonderful world of Orwell, and what. a. BOOK. I LOVE IT! I definitely recommend this to anyone interested in classics that have made such an impact on today's society.

So that concludes today's TEN TALES. Let me know in the comments if you've read any of these and what you thought of them, and what your top books of this year are!

Catch ya laterrrrr
