Book Review: Insurgent (Divergent, Book 2)

The thrillingly dark sequel to New York Times bestseller, DIVERGENT.I have done bad things. I can’t take them back, and they are part of who I am. Tris has survived a brutal attack on her former home and family. But she has paid a terrible price. Wracked by grief and guilt, she becomes ever more reckless as she struggles to accept her new future. Yet if Tris wants to uncover the truth about her world, she must be stronger than ever… because more shocking choices and sacrifices lie ahead.

So Insurgent FINALLY came! (That's probably what you get for ordering it the day before the Easter weekend, but hey a girl has needs.) ERMAHGAWD. This first thing about this book is that
it is almost as awesome as Divergent! And find it quite rare for this to happen, so if it does you've got a pretty brilliant book series.

(I'll try not to give any spoilers)

The events of the first book have changed Tris. That strong figure she has in Divergent become undermined from pain, sorrow and loss. This comes through a lot during the book, but not (I feel) too much. Her and Four's relationship throughout the book is, under the circumstances, is quite realistic. Although they love each other, they still argue. Also, the fact that the romance isn't the main story, rather a sub-plot, but this is good. I think it would be way too much if their relationship was the main storyline. Roth is a brilliant writer, she creates and puts this all across very well!

What's great about the book is that there is never a dull moment. You as the reader will always feel the suspense, fascination, thrill that this unpredictable book has hidden in its pages.

I can't wait for book 3!
