Hunger Games Recipe: Bread With Cheese, Basil and Blackberries

I made some for a book club meeting.
"Gale spreads the bread slices with the soft goat cheese, carefully placing a basil leaf on each while I strip the bushes of their berries. The food's wonderful, with the cheese seeping into the
warm bread and the berries bursting in our mouths." -Suzanne Collins, The Hunger Games

This is a super easy and fast-to-prepare food you can make for a Hunger Games themed party!

Bread With Cheese, Basil and Blackberries
Serves 8-10
8 ounces fresh goat cheese or any spreadable cheese (Laughing Cow is my fave)

1 tablespoon olive oil, or more
2 cups basil leaves (enough for one leaf per slice of bread)
1 baguette, in 1/2-inch slices (preferably French bread)
1.5 cups fresh blackberries (optional)

1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees
2. In a medium-size bowl, mash the cheese with a fork. Add olive oil to loosen it up. Add more if  needed.
3. Spray a pan with nonstick oil and lay out the slices of bread. Spread the cheese on each slice of bread and top with a single basil leaf on each slice. Be sure to gently press the basil leaf into the bread to make sure it stays during the baking process.
4. Bake at 180 for around 5 minutes.

Eat them warm with the fresh blackberries!
