Book Review: Eleanor and Park

Title: Eleanor & Park
Author: Rainbow Rowell
Release Date: February 26th 2013

Set over the course of one school year in 1986, ELEANOR AND PARK is the story of two star-crossed misfits – smart enough to know that first love almost never lasts, but brave and desperate enough to try. When Eleanor meets Park, you’ll remember your own first love – and just how hard it pulled you under.

Eleanor and Park is one of those books that you stay up all night reading. Not because there is heart stopping action or killer suspense, but because of the raw emotion this book causes the reader to feel.

Eleanor and Park is the relatable story of two misfit teenagers who stumble head first into a star crossed love. With Eleanor's screwed up family life, and Park's strict mother and father, their love is destined to fail, but they try anyways which just makes the book harder to put down. With Eleanor's witty and sarcastic remarks and Parks devout devotion of keeping Eleanor out of harms way, makes this book a heart wrenching comedy with some suspense, longing, and a lot of love.
I would recommend this book to people who enjoy romance with a twist. No, not a supernatural twist, but an evil controlling stepfather, or a queen bee trying to ruin everything.(both occur in the book) but overall, an amazing book that left me crying at the end and wanting more.
