Book Review: Divergent

So this book kept appearing on Twitter, Tumblr ect, as well as constantly coming up on my recommended list on Amazon. It wasn't really until I saw Elizabeth's post for Fangirl Friday about the casting of the soon-to-be film adaption that I finally got round to buying it.

IT'S SO AMAZING. 

I hate to kill the cliche, but I really couldn't put it down. At one point I was even reading it in my German class (Sorry... not sorry). There isn't really a dull moment in the book which is brill. What
stood out straight away was that it, I felt it, was a definite mix of The Hunger Games AND the Matched books. A dystopian world that sees society being split up into different sections. In this case its 'factions';

Dauntless - The fearless folk who are undaunted. (Obviously) 

Abnegation - People who are selfless, against any form of greed, vanity and envy.

Candor - They do not lie, like at all.   

Amity - Believers in kindness and peacefulness.

Erudite - They value intelligence. *Nerds* 

The Factionless- These are the people who failed to complete initiation to their chosen factions, therefore making them pretty much outcasts. Left to do the jobs no one really wants to do. They live in poverty..  

I have to say that at the start all of that ^^^ stuff confused me. I hadn't even heard of the words before. (*pahaa*) But once you get into the book more, it becomes much clearer. This division of society makes the characters more interesting. Some people have grown up in such a way, that once they meet others they can really see the difference in their faction. 

What I also loved about the book was that we see Tris, the main character, develop through the book. Overcoming fears, learning new stuff and her relationships with others - both enemies and friends. 

I loved the book so much and I've ordered book 2 'Insurgent'. It's painful waiting for Mr Postman to deliver it because I'm sure it's just as brilliant as the first.
